Mechanical Engineer
General Description
Compass Commissioning and Design is in search of a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of expertise and experience in HVAC and plumbing design to serve a wide variety of clients in the healthcare, commercial, design-build and process industries. The successful candidate will have the ability to serve the role of lead plumbing engineer for the company. This role will involve performing HVAC and plumbing design, as well as managing and developing other members of the design team in plumbing design. Core Competencies
- Project management, customer interactions, and internal/external communication
- Proficient in REVIT and AutoCAD
- HVAC load calculations and equipment selection
- Familiarity with common types of HVAC systems, including hydronic systems, packaged and split air conditioning units, semi-custom air handlers, desiccant dehumidifiers, energy recovery, etc.
- Competency in the design and operation of the following types of systems:
- Duct and air distribution systems
- Hydronic systems
- Dehumidification
- Domestic water distribution
- Drain, waste and vent
- Medical gas piping
- Responsive, driven attitude toward customer service and satisfaction
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree from ABET Accredited university
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) preferred, but not required
- 10+ Years of HVAC and Plumbing design experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Job Responsibilities
- Project management, including interfacing with the client and/or client representatives, and internal management of Compass personnel working on the project.
- Team leadership and support of other team members, including initial conceptual brainstorming, intermediate support and review, and final QC review of documents before being issued to customer.
- Development and education of younger engineers, designers, and interns through supervised project tasks, drawing review, and productive feedback.
- Ability to self-manage and perform project tasks.
- Interacting with equipment representatives on equipment selection.
- Performing site surveys and meetings with the client as required.
- Perform submittal reviews, respond to RFIs, and conduct site surveys/inspections.
- Occasional travel (mostly to the tri-cities area).
